Canon Inc. is one of the largest public companies in Japan.
It is, in fact, a multinational corporation with branches all over the world, employing near to 200,000 workers.
Canon specializes in optical products such as cameras and lenses, printers, scanners, medical equipment and other office supplies.
The company was founded in 1934 by Takeshi Mitarai, Goro Yoshida, Saburo Uchida and Takeo Maeda.
Since then, Canon has focused on innovation and in the production of quality products, most of them related to the optics field.
The company manages its activities through headquarters in five continents, being the main one located in Tokyo, Japan.
The production is not only focused on profits, but also caring about environmental health and green products.
Canon also uses to donate part of the profit to charity. After the terrible earthquake that hit China’s Sichuan province in May 2008, the company donated to help 5 million people displaced by the quake.
Sponsorships are also part of Canon’s policy. The English football league, Formula One racing cars and Red Cross National Societies across Europe, are part of organizations supported by the company.
