Getting started with Canon Powershot ELPH 360 HS
Before you start ahead to use the product, read through all the guidelines and safety precautions provided in the user manual. These precautions are intended to protect you from any accident due to the mishandling of the product.
Moreover, before using the camera for the first time, insert the battery and the memory card into the respective slots.
Please note that the battery is provided separately from the package. The battery further needs to be charged by using the USB cable and AC adapter provided in the package.
Setting date and time
After you power ON the camera, you first need to set the correct date and time according to your respective time zone. The information provided in this respect would help you to accurately store the image and video in the right sequence.
To go ahead with the process, turn the camera On by pressing the power button. The camera will prompt you with a date/ time screen.
Use the arrow keys to choose the required date and time and finish the process by pressing the FUNC SET button at the center.
If you enter a different time zone later, you can change the time and date using the same menu settings.
Using the camera for the first time
Capturing Images
As you’re using the camera for the first time, shooting in the SMART AUTO is highly recommended. With this mode, the camera uses predefined settings to capture a certain image or video. To go ahead with the task, simply power On the camera and press the AUTO mode by turning the mode towards the camera icon.
Press the FUNC SET button and use the arrow keys to select AUTO. Once done, carefully focus the camera on the subject. The camera would come up with a little click noise to confirm that the subject has been put in focus.
Also, you will be welcomed with certain icons on the screen that signify the various scene and image stabilization modes.
Once the subject has been correctly focused, you can use a Zoom feature by turning the zoom lever toward the telephoto icon. Once the same setting has been adjusted, press the shutter button halfway down.
This would put the subject in focus and you will hear two beep sounds from the camera, indicating that the subjects are in focus. Now press the shutter button fully and the camera will capture the image while prompting you with a clicking noise again.
Recording Videos
The video recording process doesn’t also come as a hefty task while using this camera. Simply press the MOVIE button and the camera will prompt you with a beep sound to confirm the initiation of the recording process.
A REC icon will be prompted on the screen confirming that the video recording process is on. You will also see certain black bars on the top and bottom edges of the display screen. These black bars will signify the areas under focus that are not getting recorded.
As the recording process starts, gently take your finger off the movie button. Once you’re done with the recording, gently press the movie button again and the camera will prompt you with two beep sounds to confirm the end of the recording process.
Viewing images and videos
In case you want to view the captured images and videos, simply go to the PLAYBACK mode by pressing the PLAY icon on the top right of the display screen.
It will prompt you with the last captured shot and you can use the arrow keys to scroll between the previous and next captured images and videos.
Please note that the movies and videos will be can be recognized by the SET icon on the top left of the display screen.
You just need to press the same icon and it will give you the option to play the movie. Use the multi-selector arrow keys to scroll between the recorded videos.
In case you want to delete the images or the recorded videos, scroll down with the multi-selector arrow keys and select the image or video you want to delete. As you are deleting the images and videos, do remember that the same cannot be recovered after deletion.
